n.m.'s story

"Dr. Paulson instantly made me feel comfortable,

and helped me achieve my therapeutic goals"

"I had struggled with vaginismus (hypertonic pelvic floor dysfunction) for many years, and had been told by a prior pelvic floor physical therapist that my case "was the worst" she had seen. Understandably, I was embarrassed and reluctant to seek help, till I found Becky at Sarton Physical Therapy. She instantly made me feel comfortable, and helped me achieve my therapeutic goals after many months of closely working with her. I was previously unable to engage in sexual intercourse at all, and the embarrassment, shame, and pain of it was debilitating and what I learned is called "the cycle of vaginismus." Becky became an integral part of my physical therapy and helped me "break the cycle", and for this, I will be forever grateful to her. She is kind, patient, and held me to my promises of compliance with PT exercises over the many months we worked together (even when I wasn't compliant). For something so deeply personal and intimate, you need the right physical therapist who is understanding and empathetic in addressing the issue and I could not have asked for a better therapist than Becky Paulson."

CYNDI'S story

"Before the end of our first meeting, I felt certain...

I was on the road to healing"

"I came to Dr. Paulson with low mobility, high pain, and a laundry list of pelvic area diagnoses, including Interstitial Cystitis, Pelvic Floor Dysfunction, Pudendal Neuralgia, and Sacroiliac Joint Dysfunction. Before the end of our first meeting I felt certain that with her Physical Therapy help, I was on the road to healing. Whether I met her in tears of frustration that I could not drive 10 minutes without needing to stop or eventually sauntered in feeling great, Becky was always ready to analyze and adjust so that our session was as effective as possible. Her combination of a thorough understanding of our bodies with an intuitive and caring manner of relating to her patients elevates Becky’s services beyond physical therapy. She truly was a partner in my healing. I learned that a significant element of pelvic floor suffering is caused by the fear that our bodies are broken and will never get better. During our sessions, Becky was not only able to relax my muscles, but also steady my mind and emotions. This was a major factor in increasing the quality of my life.  I am forever grateful that it was Becky Paulson who walked into my therapy room that day and I wholeheartedly recommend her for all your Physical Therapy needs.

"Finding her was like finding hidden treasure."

"Dr. Paulson has been my life saver! I've been diagnosed with endometriosis for about 3 years and also, pudendal neuralgia. After being her patient for almost 2 years, I can honestly say that my life has changed for the better. With endometriosis and pudendal symptoms, I was in desperate need of help. Both health problems caused bladder, GI, and nerve sensitivity. The type of therapy and attention she provides is very hard to find; especially  since there's not that many pelvic therapists.  Finding her was like finding hidden treasure. With years of sudden symptoms of pudendal neuralgia, I didn't believe anyone or anything could help me. So, working with Dr. Paulson has been a long journey of commitment and hard work. Her advice and recommendations are greatly appreciated. They have helped me change my ways of life. She is truly amazing at what she does. She's easy and fun to talk to. I can honestly say that she saved me from a lot of pain and discomfort. What she has done for me I don't think a gyno/general doctor would be able to help or understand. I would never be able to thank Becky enough for everything that she has done for me."

"Becky is the most passionate, professional, thorough, thoughtful, prepared, dedicated, and caring physical therapist I have ever had the pleasure of working with."

I am a former swimmer and lifelong fitness enthusiast. I worked with Becky when I was 4 months postpartum and suffering from fairly severe DRA. To say that I was crippled mentally and physically by the appearance and the function of my abs does not adequately describe the place I was in when I met Becky. I think I was brought to tears during our initial consult just talking about it.

I had previously tried to treat my DRA after the birth of my first son, to no avail. After the birth of my second son just a few months ago, my stomach was remarkably worse. I thought I had tried everything to rehab this situation, so I really felt like it was my last shot to fix this when I came to see her. I live in Chicago, but was spending my last month of maternity leave in California with my family. Needless to say, we had a short time to work together to try to remedy my situation.

Becky changed my life. We worked together 3x week over three weeks in December of 2019. I lost 3 inches of the distension around my waist, gained strength throughout my core, back, and pelvic floor, and generally just started to feel like my body was functioning properly again. Becky thoroughly prepared for each session, researched issues that were coming up, and treated me with so much dignity and respect. She made me feel like she was as invested in my rehab as I was. That is a truly unique and unparalleled quality.

10/10 would recommend Becky!!!
